Last night as Merit and I were putting clothes away, she kept saying to me, "Mom, something stinks!  These clothes stink!  Are you sure you washed these?"  None of my clothes were giving off a funk.  But, finally after the third time she commented, I decided to go smell them.  I said, "Merit, honey, that's fabric softener you smell.  That's a good smell."  She responded, "I don't like it.  It stinks."

After a couple years of not using fabric softener and making my own non-smelling laundry detergent, I for whatever reason decided to use up the half used bottle of fabric softener that my parents left here at Christmas.  For Chris and I it was little treat to have nice smelling clothes again.  I just assumed the rest of the family would enjoy it as well.  I guess that's what I get for assuming!

So, here's to being frugal and making your own non-smelling laundry detergent and forgoing the fabric softener!
